Neil Meisel

Neil Meisel began studying yoga in 1976, and after six months in teacher training at the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco, he started teaching in 1981. He has attended workshops in a variety of yogic traditions, and is certified in the tradition of Anusara Yoga from Willow Street Yoga in Washington, D.C. Since 1988, Neil has attended Vipassana Meditation retreats, and studied meditation with Shinzen Young. Neil is also a certified Rolfer, and a co-founder and co-director of the Awareness Center. Neil applies his extensive knowledge of the body learned from Rolfing and yoga and his meditative experience to create healing yoga classes with an emphasis on meditation.

Michael Fahey

Michael Fahey, a co-founder/co-director of the Awareness Center, is in his thirtieth year as a Yoga practitioner, and since the mid-1970?s has taught yoga in the Wilmington and Newark areas. In addition to studying with Bob Davis and Kathleen Wright, since 1994, Michael has been in the teacher training program of Joan White, one of only seven senior-level Iyengar instructors in the U.S. Michael's classes emphasize the essentials of Iyengar yoga -- focused attention on breathing and precise postural alignment -- in a supportive and fun atmosphere. As Michael says, "A yoga practice should be joyful!"

Amala Fahey

Amala Fahey began studying yoga in 1973, with Bob Davis. After moving to California, she studied at the Institute for Yoga Teacher Education (IYTE), and studied Vinyasa with Richard Miller. While in Maui, she studied Vipasana Meditation with Joseph Goldstein, and Ashtanga with David Williams. After her return to Delaware, Amala began teaching Hatha Yoga, and studying with Joan White, one of the country's senior-level Iyengar instructors. Through her experience with diverse styles of yoga, Amala has developed a deep appreciation of the mind/body connection. In her teaching, she emphasizes the smooth flow from one posture to another.

Robert Gadon

Robert Gadon began practicing yoga in Washington, D.C. in 1997, and teaching in 2004.  He is currently enrolled in an Iyengar Yoga teacher training program at Studio Yoga in Madison, New Jersey. For 9 months in 2005 and 2006, he regularly traveled to the Unity Woods Yoga Center in Washington, D.C. to observe and assist Carolyn Bluemle as she taught her classes. Dianna Detwiler

Dianna teaches a gentle yoga class using props with emphasis on body awareness, breath, alignment and relaxation.  She has completed 100 hours of teacher training in the Anusara style of yoga at the Willow Street Yoga Center including an apprenticeship with Jenny Otto at the Golden Heart Center.  Dianna has studied yoga for 15 years initially in the Iyengar tradition with Fern Meirding, and she studies currently with Neil Meisel.

Maximilian Quarto

Began studying martial arts at the age of 14 and has been a student of chi gung and meditation for over ten years.  Max is a long time student of Susan Rabinowitzs of the Taoist arts center in NY City.  He is also currently engaged in an instructor-training program in Bagua Zhang with Frank Allen of the Wu Tang Physical Culture Association.  Max continues to study and train, attending regular workshops and retreats throughout the year.  Max's primary focus is on the Taoist water tradition as taught by Susan Rabinowitzs.  His teaching style emphasizes detailed relaxed instruction with a focus on the health and meditation aspects of chi gung.
