Leslie Beckett
Leslie has practiced yoga for over 25 years. She began teaching Svaroopa style yoga in 2004 and was registered with Yoga Alliance in 2006 at the 500 hour training level (RTY-500). Additional certifications include Embodyment yoga therapy, Kripalu YogaDance, Reiki, therapeutic massage, Touch-for-Health, and Tae Kwon Do. Her studies inform her precise and compassionate yoga instruction. Students consistently find her classes deeply effective and relaxing. Leslie teaches Gentle Svaroopa style yoga at the Awareness Center.
Bob Davis
Bob is a long time practitioner of hatha yoga and meditation, and has taught yoga in the Newark area since 1972. His classes emphasize synchronizing body movements with deep rhythmic breathing to create a meditative experience of hatha yoga. Bob is an active member of the Mid-Atlantic Vipassana Meditation Network and the Philadelphia Meditation Center. He also co-authored the book 'You Can Achiever Peace of Mind', a practical guide to the experience of inner peace.
Amala Fahey
Amala Fahey began studying yoga in 1973, with Bob Davis. After moving to California, she studied at the Institute for Yoga Teacher Education (IYTE), and studied Vinyasa with Richard Miller. While in Maui, she studied Vipasana Meditation with Joseph Goldstein, and Ashtanga with David Williams. After her return to Delaware, Amala began teaching Hatha Yoga, and studying with Joan White, one of the country's senior-level Iyengar instructors. Through her experience with diverse styles of yoga, Amala has developed a deep appreciation of the mind/body connection. In her teaching, she emphasizes the smooth flow from one posture to another.
Michael Fahey
Michael Fahey, a co-founder/co-director of the Awareness Center, is in his thirtieth year as a Yoga practitioner, and since the mid-1970?s has taught yoga in the Wilmington and Newark areas. In addition to studying with Bob Davis and Kathleen Wright, since 1994, Michael has been in the teacher training program of Joan White, one of only seven senior-level Iyengar instructors in the U.S. Michael's classes emphasize the essentials of Iyengar yoga -- focused attention on breathing and precise postural alignment -- in a supportive and fun atmosphere. As Michael says, "A yoga practice should be joyful!"

Robert Gadon
Robert Gadon began his yoga practice in 1997, and has taught since 2004. His teaching is thoughtful, precise, challenging, and fun. Robert is a 2009 graduate of the Iyengar Yoga teacher training program at Studio Yoga in Madison, New Jersey directed by Theresa Rowland. In October 2009, Robert passed the Introductory I assessment exam conducted by the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States (IYNAUS). He is preparing for his Introductory II level Iyengar Yoga teacher certification exam in the fall of 2011.
Robert teaches 2 weekly clases at The Awareness Center on Wednesday mornings; Yoga Level I/II at 8:15 AM, and Yoga for Seniors (Level I) at 10:00 AM. He also leads a monthly restorative yoga class (September through April), and periodically teaches a class on Yoga for Neck and Shoulders.

Neil Meisel
Neil Meisel began studying yoga in 1976, and after six months in teacher training at the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco, he started teaching in 1981. He has attended workshops in a variety of yogic traditions, and is certified in the tradition of Anusara Yoga from Willow Street Yoga in Washington, D.C. Since 1988, Neil has attended Vipassana Meditation retreats, and studied meditation with Shinzen Young. Neil is also a certified Rolfer, and a co-founder and co-director of the Awareness Center. Neil applies his extensive knowledge of the body learned from Rolfing and yoga and his meditative experience to create healing yoga classes with an emphasis on meditation.

John Miller
John is certified teacher with The Krishnamacharya Healing Yoga Foundation, Chennai, India. He has completed over 1000 hours of study of Yoga Theory and Practice in the US and India, including his study for Yoga Therapy Certification. He has held positions at The Omega Institute and Mohonk Mountain Resort in New York, and has led group and private yoga practices in yoga studios, health clubs and for a school district. He also teaches pranayama (breathing) and meditation.
Maximilian Quarto
Began studying martial arts at the age of 14 and has been a student of chi gung and meditation for over ten years. Max is a long time student of Susan Rabinowitzs of the Taoist arts center in NY City. He is also currently engaged in an instructor-training program in Bagua Zhang with Frank Allen of the Wu Tang Physical Culture Association. Max continues to study and train, attending regular workshops and retreats throughout the year. Max's primary focus is on the Taoist water tradition as taught by Susan Rabinowitzs. His teaching style emphasizes detailed relaxed instruction with a focus on the health and meditation aspects of chi gung. Erin Sweeny
Erin has been a fitness instructor since 1992, and became a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance in January 2010. Previously she studied Hatha Yoga in the Princeton NJ area and attended teacher training at the Yoga Institute of Miami, Florida. Her training is primarily Iyengar, but she also has experience with the Baron Baptiste Power Yoga and Anusara Yoga methods. She enjoys teaching all levels from beginning to advanced students.
